The Twaandu Water Project: Mbiuni–Ngakaa Rising Main (Contract No. NO/CO218/FY25) is a World Vision–funded initiative awarded to Jakimo Infrastructure (E.A) Ltd at a contract value of Ksh. 24,300,000.00. The project focuses on improving water conveyance along the Mbiuni–Ngakaa rising main to enhance water access for local communities. The site was officially handed over on 11 September 2025, with works beginning on 12 September 2025.
The project aims to strengthen water distribution infrastructure by upgrading the rising main to ensure more reliable and efficient water flow. The objective is to improve access to clean and consistent water supply for the surrounding communities, supporting both domestic and livelihood needs.
The works involve upgrading the Mbiuni–Ngakaa rising main, including pipe laying, system reinforcement, and related civil works necessary to optimize water conveyance. These improvements are designed to increase the overall efficiency and durability of the water supply system.
The project has a contract duration of 12 weeks, with a scheduled completion date of 4 December 2025. Additionally, a 6-month defect liability period is included to ensure sustained quality and performance of the completed works. As of the latest update, the project is at 90% completion, indicating strong progress toward timely delivery.
The upgraded rising main will significantly enhance the availability of water for the local communities. By improving flow efficiency and system reliability, the project will support better household access, improve sanitation outcomes, and contribute to overall community well-being.
The Twaandu Water Project represents a meaningful investment in water infrastructure aimed at improving the quality and consistency of water supply in the Mbiuni–Ngakaa area.
