The proposed construction of staff houses, a gate, a gate house, and associated external works at Voi Prison is a Kenya Railways Corporation project undertaken under Contract No. NO.KR/SCM/056/2022-2023. The project is executed by a joint venture between Jakimo Infrastructure East Africa Limited and Scope Project Limited, with a contract sum of Ksh. 54,000,000. The site was officially handed over on 16 October 2025, with construction commencing the following day.
The project aims to improve living conditions for staff, enhance security, and boost operational efficiency within Voi Prison. By developing dedicated staff housing and secure entry facilities, the project supports the welfare of personnel and ensures better management of the prison environment.
The works involve constructing residential staff houses, a main gate, a gate house, and completing associated external works. These external works include landscaping, access roads, drainage, and other civil works necessary to create a functional, safe, and organized facility.
The development adopts a contemporary architectural style characterized by clean lines, modern finishes, and well-balanced spaces. The focus is on creating a home that combines elegance with practicality, ensuring aesthetic appeal while supporting day-to-day functionality.
The project commenced on 17 October 2025 and is scheduled for completion within a period of 48 weeks, ensuring that all structures and facilities are delivered on time while maintaining high-quality standards.
Upon completion, the project will provide secure and comfortable housing for prison staff, improve access and security through the new gate and gate house, and create a well-structured external environment. These upgrades will enhance operational efficiency and the overall welfare of staff within Voi Prison.
