World Vision Kenya

Services Overview

World Vision Kenya has implemented several critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving access to clean water and healthcare in Kitui, Mwingi, Mwala, and Makueni Counties. These initiatives include the construction of water supply pipelines, water trucking tank bases, tap-stand plumbing works, hospital facilities, and rising main extensions. Commencing between August 2023 and September 2025, these projects are designed to strengthen water and healthcare infrastructure, ensuring communities have reliable access to essential services. Each project was executed with a focus on quality, sustainability, and long-term community benefits.

The Problem

Prior to these projects, communities in these regions faced significant challenges: unreliable access to clean water, insufficient water distribution systems, and limited healthcare facilities. Water scarcity and poor infrastructure affected domestic use, livestock, hygiene, and economic activities, while the lack of local healthcare facilities limited timely medical care. These challenges had a direct impact on the health, well-being, and livelihoods of the residents.

The Solution: A Vision Realized

World Vision Kenya addressed these challenges through a series of targeted infrastructure projects:

  • Kwambele Water Supply System (Aug–Oct 2023): Constructed a pipeline system with associated civil works to improve water access.

  • Water Trucking Tank Bases and Tap-Stands in Kitui and Mwingi (Oct 2024–Feb 2025): Enhanced water distribution efficiency and accessibility.

  • Kibau–Yanthooko Pipeline Extension (Jul–Sep 2024): Extended pipelines to ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply.

  • Ngaaka Hospital Construction (Feb–Oct 2025): Built a fully functional healthcare facility to provide medical services locally.

  • Twaandu Mbiuni Ngaaka Rising Main (Sep–Dec 2025): Improved water supply through a rising main system to strengthen community access.

These projects collectively provided modern, reliable infrastructure solutions that meet both water and healthcare needs.

Impact on the Community

The implementation of these projects has significantly enhanced the quality of life for local communities. Reliable water supply systems reduce the time and effort spent collecting water, support hygiene and sanitation, and boost household and agricultural productivity. The construction of the hospital in Ngaaka ensures that residents now have access to timely and effective healthcare, improving overall health outcomes. The upgraded infrastructure also supports economic development, reduces vulnerability to water shortages, and strengthens community resilience.

Community Voices and Gratitude

Community members have expressed heartfelt gratitude for these projects. Residents appreciate the improved access to clean water, the enhanced efficiency of water distribution systems, and the availability of local healthcare services. Local leaders commend World Vision Kenya and project partners for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to sustainable development. Many highlight the projects as transformative, directly improving daily life, health, and economic opportunities. The initiatives are seen as a testament to collaborative effort and a shared commitment to community well-being.

Conclusion

The suite of water and healthcare infrastructure projects implemented by World Vision Kenya represents a major step forward in improving access to essential services across Kitui, Mwingi, Mwala, and Makueni Counties. By addressing critical gaps in water supply and healthcare, these projects enhance livelihoods, promote public health, and contribute to long-term community resilience. Together, they serve as lasting symbols of progress, collaboration, and the transformative power of sustainable development initiatives.
