The project involved the fabrication, supply, and installation of two major water storage systems in Narok West, Narok County: a 50m³ galvanized ground steel tank at Olomanira and a 50m³ galvanized elevated steel tank standing 6 meters high at Parmolile. Work on the project commenced in December 2023 and was successfully completed and handed over to the client, Amref Kenya, in March 2024. The initiative aimed to address water accessibility challenges and provide long-term, reliable water solutions for the communities in the region.
Before the project, the communities in Olomanira and Parmolile faced persistent challenges in accessing clean, safe, and consistent water supply. Limited water storage capacity, unreliable distribution, and heavy dependence on seasonal sources hindered daily life and affected household well-being, livestock care, hygiene, and community development. The lack of adequate storage infrastructure made water scarcity a recurring issue, especially during dry seasons.
To address these challenges, the project provided two robust water storage systems designed for durability and efficiency. A 50m³ galvanized ground steel tank was installed in Olomanira, while Parmolile received a 50m³ elevated steel tank built 6 meters above ground to enhance pressure and distribution. The fabrication, supply, and installation of these tanks followed industry standards, ensuring long-term performance and reliability. By March 2024, the project was fully completed and handed over to Amref Kenya for community use.
The new water infrastructure brought immediate and long-term benefits to the residents of Olomanira and Parmolile. Households now enjoy improved access to clean and dependable water, reducing the time and effort previously spent on sourcing water from distant or unreliable points.
